The Oregon Military Department (OMD) is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position.
The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Carpenter in the Adjutant Generals Installations Division. This is a permanent full-time state position located at Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Oregon.
This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union.

What You Will be Doing
The CARPENTER does journey-level carpentry work to maintain and repair buildings, structures, fixtures, furniture, and equipment. Employees also coordinate work with other trades’ areas such as electrical, painting and plumbing to complete projects.

Working Conditions
Subject to loud noise and unsanitary work conditions several times monthly. Regularly exposed to multiple types of powered equipment. Works from ladders, scaffolds, rooftops and man lifts. Works within confined spaces. Requires bending, standing and lifting of heavy objects up to 70 pounds. Works in inclement weather. Follows all safety standards, policies and procedures. Must have knowledge to know when, where and how to properly wear and maintain personal protective equipment and comply with all safety practices and requirements at all times. Regular attendance is an essential function required to meet the demands of this job and to provide necessary services.
Structure work and other activities in the unit to promote a diverse workforce and ensure discrimination, harassment and hostility free workplace.
What You Need to Qualify
Four (4) years’ experience as a skilled carpenter.
The experience must include:
a. Form building
b. rough framing
c. outside and inside finishing
d. layout
e. care and use of tools and woodworking machinery
f. blueprint reading
-and-
g. application of safety standards and codes

***OR***
Completion of an apprenticeship (four years) under a skilled carpenter which included experience as listed above. Be sure a copy of your Journeyman Carpenters card is attached to your application form.
Additional Requirements
Must have possess and maintain a valid driver license and good driving record.

Conditions of Employment
Must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination (T1). Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment, the circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
Requested Skills
How to maintain all personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep in good working condition and have the knowledge to know when, where, and how to wear PPEs.

Work Experience
