Job Description
The primary responsibilities of this position include the following:
  • Preparation for metal framing, finishing, painting, and decorating of wall surfaces
  • Maintain power equipment
  • Update and maintain the interior of the House Office Building and the Capitol Building
  • Hang pictures upon request
  • Mechanically inclined to change blades, belts, dust collection system filters, etc.
  • Build frames and create specialty matting for tributes, bill signing, and pictures
  • Repair restoration furniture for offices located in the Capitol Building
All assigned work activities will be executed in conformance with established occupational hazard and safety rules. Work hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm
Required Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:
Previous experience in the design, layout, assembly, and installation of cabinets and/or furniture is preferred. This position requires knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures, materials, and tools of the trade of carpentry.

Leave Time
Full time employees receive 26 vacation and leave days per year
Holidays
State employees receive 13 scheduled holidays each year, which include New Years Eve Day and New Years Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day just to name a few.

Deferred Compensation
Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount you want deducted from your paycheck.

Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
