The GRM U.S. Strategy team is seeking a talented, motivated individual to join our highly visible group that focuses on solving the most critical strategic issues of the U.S. organization. In this role you will lead key strategic engagements and support the U.S. Executive Leadership Team in setting the broader strategic direction for the region, including the overall strategy, priorities, goals and key measures of success.
The ideal candidate for this role has a background in strategic thinking and an ability to lead cross-functional projects in a fast paced and dynamic environment. They should also have the ability to interface with and influence senior leadership and welcome challenging situations and assignments. As part of the team, you will work both independently, leading a range of strategic initiatives, and with team members on larger scale strategic endeavors.
Responsibilities:
- Support the setting and monitoring of the GRM U.S. strategy. Help to define and facilitate the governance, planning and reporting process for strategic priorities and measures of success.
- Lead critical cross-functional U.S. strategic and operational initiatives that drive strategic thinking, decisions and operational actions. Provide insightful analysis, findings, and recommendations to GRM U.S. leadership for strategic decision making.
- Create a productive team dynamic and coach/develop/manage more junior staff that participates in strategy projects.
- Influence key stakeholders to create consensus and buy-in around project recommendations.
- Conduct market, operational, and financial analysis to evaluate the impact of alternative management decisions on company performance.
- Align U.S. Executive leadership and operational management teams across the organization to identify opportunities to improve SBU effectiveness and efficiency.
- Serve as a thought-leader across the broader organization; helping understand and identify how key external trends and competitive actions will impact our strategy and how the organization should respond to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
- Advanced level of knowledge of financial analysis, marketing, technology, strategic thinking, management.
- Displays solid business acumen and integrated thinking.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to aid in interactions with senior management, other departments, and industry.
- Knowledge, skills and other capabilities that are typically acquired through a MBA or equivalent and at least 10 years’ experience, some which should be in a strategy consulting role or similar capacity.
- Must be driven and flexible enough to succeed in ambiguous and less structured situations.
- 8+ years of relevant business experience, including experience with strategic planning, finance, and evaluation of the economics of an insurance business
- Expert influencing skills, with a strong ability to build consensus among multiple levels and functions within the organization. Will need to influence actions and drive results among parties with different agendas and reporting relationships.
- Capabilities required include strategic thinking, resiliency, adaptability, self-confidence, organization, achievement-orientated, collaborative, and openness to new experiences.
- Excellent communication skills.
