How will you make an impact in this role?

Global Merchant Services (GMS) is the merchant acquirer, processor and marketing partner for the millions of merchants around the world who accept American Express Cards.


The incumbent is part of the U.S. Merchant Services Strategy, Planning and Analytics team, and will support the Client Management teams in the U.S. This position will be responsible for reporting and analyzing U.S. business performance metrics, supporting planning & target setting activities, providing ad-hoc analysis and implementing strategical initiatives. The Strategy, Planning and Analytics team also enables U.S. Client Management (CLM) teams to be more effective by helping them manage their performance and by identifying opportunities for improvement through consistent and accurate reporting, analytics and process management.


This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the Merchant business while building strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners to evolve Client Management reporting and to develop new and insightful analysis. This Analyst should have strong technical and analytical skills, be detail oriented and should be comfortable collaborating with internal customers


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with key business partners throughout GMS MS-U.S. (e.g. Regional GMs, Client Management SVPs/VPs, Pricing, Finance) to create target Strategy framework and KPI targets.
  • Manage the target setting process for all markets and merchants across US, working with key stakeholders and leaders in Client Management and GS&C for U.S.
  • Assist in the evaluation of current reporting, identifying opportunities to drive automation, eliminate redundancies and address reporting gaps.
  • Proactively consult with key stakeholders to develop strategies, measurement and analysis methodologies and applications to evaluate the effectiveness of new strategies and tactics to address key business needs.
  • Support annual processes such as forecasting, planning, target setting and scorecard processes.
  • Undertake in-depth analysis of key business performance metrics, highlighting trends and identifying implications and opportunities for the business
  • Partner and align with various teams including other Regional Planning & Reporting Teams, Finance, Pricing and other GMS teams to ensure consistency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong service ethos and willingness to support prompt issue resolution in a global environment
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, provide meaningful insights and deliver relevant analyses
  • Minimum 2 years business experience required
  • Tableau dashboard development experience a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred
  • Reporting experience where the audience spans from middle-management to senior leadership a plus
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing business needs and priorities
  • Previous financial industry experience preferred
  • Strong focus on detail and delivery excellence
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • PowerPoint skills a plus
  • Ability to meet time sensitive senior leadership requests
  • Comfortable with a high paced, changing environment with multiple priorities.
  • Programming expertise using SAS, Python and/or Hive a plus
  • Problem solving and project management skills

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
