This Billing Collections Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive reimbursement services, including intake or newly referred accounts/patients, in a manner that ensures the company receives appropriate reimbursement for authorized services provided to patients. S/he will interact with case managers, third-party administrators, payer representatives, patients, customer care representatives, and sales representatives.
Your day will be very busy… you will:
- Maintain related files and records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements and practice.
- Serve as an advocate for reimbursement by third-party payers.
- Key and input claim information and coordinate with the physicians’ personnel regarding documentation.
- Contact third-party payers, physicians’ personnel, sales representatives, and patients to resolve billing, reimbursement, and payment problems.
- Analyze aging to prioritize collection activity and determine the appropriate action to be taken to collect and resolve accounts.
- Contact patient to notify, collect, and establish terms of payment.
- Contact insurance carriers to verify coverage of certain items.
- Collections management of more complex claims, such as Prosthetics and Custom Orthotics.
- Manage claims process including intake, claim submittal, and accounts receivable activities for Breg’s in-house billing programs.
- Review third-party payments to determine the correct level of reimbursement.
- Write appeals for denied claims to third-party payers.
- Process and facilitate pre-certification and data input processes for claims.
What your background will be:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred and 2+ years applicable experience.
- Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.
- Proficient in reimbursement principles, medical terminology, payer groups, and networks, including Medicare, worker’s compensation, and private insurance.
- Experience with Prosthetic and Customer Orthotic Billing is highly desirable.
- Relevant experience typically includes intake, medical insurance/billing/reimbursements, ideally in a durable medical equipment environment—previous experience working with Billing Software systems highly desired.

Salary/Pay Range: $17.30 - $24.00/hr.
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for a bonus, commission, equity, etc.
