Performs a variety of standard professional and technical work for a human resources (HR) program/function – areas may include health and retirement benefits, employee safety, leaves of absence or workers compensation. Understands business operations and performs duties in accordance with best practices, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and, if applicable, collective bargaining agreements. Provides relevant information to managers, employees and family members to facilitate understanding of policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. As needed, collaborates with affiliate HR business partners and internal teams to understand, address or mitigate risks and issues.**This is a hybrid On-Site/Remote Position**

Standard Professional and Technical Work
- Gathers information from various sources (e.g., employees, healthcare providers, etc.) to determine appropriate course of action or next steps.
- Manages and reviews issues/cases from initiation to closure/resolution while applying best practices, policies and procedures and general knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and business. Provides relevant information to employee or family member based on employee’s specific circumstances.
- Reviews documents and ensures requests/documents are processed timely in accordance with policies and procedures; local, state and federal laws and, if applicable, collective bargaining agreements.
- Partners with internal resources to review complex cases/issues, and to identify strategies to mitigate further escalation/progression of issue.
Documentation
- Reviews documents and communications and enters and updates relevant information into appropriate systems pertaining to employee’s case.
- Tracks issues and progress pertaining to employee’s case.
- Documents all activities and conversations into system’s computerized diary.
- Indexes and maintains documents and correspondence related to employee's case.
Serve as Resource
- Assists employees and managers in understanding program policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, including other information that may have a periphery impact on employee’s situation (e.g., health benefits and collective bargaining agreements).
- Stays current on changes in applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, and updates to policies and collective bargaining agreements to assure compliance.
- Responds to questions from managers, employees and family members, HR staff and other relevant parties.
Collaboration
- Seeks guidance and/or works with internal team or Center of Expertise on unusual issues or exception cases.
- Generates and reviews reports, and identifies unusual cases or anomalies, and discusses appropriate strategies to manage issue.
- Partners with internal team and/or HR staff to understand, address or mitigate issues specific to employee.
Performance Management and Continuous Improvement
- Recognizes and communicates potential issues to appropriate leader.
- Supports and assists the team when necessary.
- Contributes ideas and actions toward continuous improvement of processes and workflows.
- Seeks and responds to regular performance feedback.
EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's: Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance or related field. or equivalent education/experience.
PREFERRED CRITERIA:
Proficient in using human resource and payroll management systems, such as ADP Workforce Now, Fidelity PSW, and time/leave systems Kronos and Essential Time.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
2 years of relevant experience.
Pay Range: $37.86 - $56.79 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
