As a Billing Specialist, you will collaborate with a supportive team to carry out a range of essential duties and responsibilities, making a real impact in our daily operations. Your main tasks will include preparing clean and timely claims submissions, resolving denials from payers, posting payments into patient accounting systems, and maintaining precise data. You'll also have the chance to interact with payers, third-party vendors, and patients to address claims, payments, and outstanding balances.
Key Responsibilities
Process behavioral health billing promptly and accurately.
Monitor the accuracy of submitted claims, ensuring proper ICD-10 / CPT coding and making adjustments when necessary.
Communicate effectively with payers, third-party vendors, and patients regarding claims, payments, and outstanding balances.
Review explanation of benefits to ensure correct claims processing and payment.
Monitor and manage outstanding accounts, proactively contacting third-party payors, patients, or others for overdue payments.
Process refund transactions for overpaid accounts and handle correspondence for rejections.
Credential staff with appropriate agencies and assist with special projects and reports as needed.
Qualifications
Enjoy the flexibility of remote work, with access to our Lawrence, MA, or Warwick, RI office as needed.
Bring at least 2 years of medical billing experience, ideally in a billing agency or provider's office.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Possess superb organizational skills and the ability to analyze processes and devise innovative solutions.
Have experience with UB04/1500 billing and a strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
Familiarity with EHRs / EMRs / Medical Billing Software is a must, and experience with Carelogic is a plus.
