Job Summary

The Backend Software Developer will be responsible for programming / software development to develop technical solutions aligned to system specifications and guidelines. The Backend Software Developer will be involved in and contribute to development decisions. Success will be characterized by, but not limited to, executing high-quality technical solutions in accordance with established guidelines and engaging in collaborative software development among Software Architect / Engineers / Developers, and other DXM team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Backend Software Engineers / Developers, Software Architect, Test Engineers, Security Architect, Product Owner, Frontend Software Engineers / Developers, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develops new and reusable code that meets internal development standards and quality goals, and that aligns with the defined architecture.
• Assists with code optimization to improve scalability, reliability, security, and performance of web applications.
• Participates in and contributes to code reviews.
• Utilizes unit testing to ensure code quality.
• Contributes to the selection of backend technical solutions, ensuring solution decisions fall within scope and best serve the application structure.
• Implements business logic, writes server scripts and APIs.
• Participates in and contributes to Agile team ceremonies.
• Creates and maintains technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Refined understanding of accessibility and security compliances preferred.
• Associate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred.
• Professional attitude and well-organized.
• Knowledge of and skill in backend programming languages, esp. Java.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience developing software in an agile-focused application development team(s) preferred.
• Knowledge of JavaScript is a plus.
• Experience working within local and global teams preferred.
• 4 – 7 years of relevant professional-level work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of agile methodology principles, tools, techniques, and processes preferred.
• Knowledge of and skill in backend software design.
• Familiarity with Java, Docker, Git, Kafka, Spring, Spring Boot, and AWS.
• Knowledge of and skill working with relational and non-relational databases.
• Self-starting, self-motivated, self-confident individual, open to taking on challenges and finding ways to succeed.

Must Be Able To...

• Communicate in English (written & verbal).
• Travel domestically and overseas for extended periods if required.
• Sit for extended periods.
