As part of the Mail Backend team we build, enhance, and maintain one of the highest scaling email platforms on the planet. Yahoo Mail Backend Team develops and maintains high-performing systems that provide REST APIs for our world-class mail clients (mobile, web, Yahoo, AOL, etc), standards-based protocols (IMAP, POP, etc) for generic mail clients, industry leading back-end mail synchronization, Metadata and Elastic Storage systems. We impact approximately 300 Million users every month, serving billions of requests a day across servers across the world, and are critical to Yahoo success.

We are also embarking on a transition from proprietary infrastructure to cloud infrastructure including things like Kubernetes, Containerization, Auto-scaling, Public/Hybrid clouds. Be a part of this exciting transformation.

You Must Have

• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networking
• Software development experience in Java/C++
• Experience with designing, developing high performing, and complex server application
• Experience in implementing and/or operating highly scalable and available services in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure etc)
• Great communicator, enjoys helping people, remains friendly and constructive under stress.
• Experience with development on Unix (Linux) platform
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.

The compensation for this position ranges from $88,500.00 - $184,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
