Job Description
Job Responsibilities


As an Audits Manager I within the Division of Medicaid Audits, you will be part of a team-driven and collaborative approach to managing audit staff in the simultaneous performance of one or more examinations or other engagements. The Medicaid Audits Division performs examinations in accordance with the attestation standards established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to determine whether Medicaid reimbursement rates paid to long term care providers by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) are materially correct. As part of our Medicaid examinations, audit teams analyze Medicaid cost reports and other information submitted by the State's nursing facilities to the SCDHHS.


In This Role Your Job Duties Would Include


  • Managing the audit staff in conducting engagements from planning to finalization of deliverables.
  • Managing the development of staff by providing direction and feedback, training, collaboration, and teambuilding. As well, you will be responsible for assessing their performance.
  • Proactively managing the implementation of continuous improvement for audit processes.
  • Actively participating in and contributing to agency success by leading and/or participating in various opportunities.
  • Demonstrating technical proficiency and the ability to quickly learn operations of providers and exhibiting a solid understanding of the provider’s business.
  • Managing communications with the engagement stakeholders with emphasis on efficiency, progress, problem solving, and resolutions.
  • Managing the audit activities to ensure compliance with applicable statues, regulations, or professional standards.


This position is under the direction of the Senior Manager(s) and reports to the Director of Medicaid Audits.


Minimum And Additional Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, auditing, business administration, finance and professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax analysis.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and auditing.
  • Must have a valid SC Drivers license. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Must have an active CPA license and a minimum of 4 years of progressive audit experience or a minimum of 6 years of progressive audit experience with 3 of those years consisting of management experience.
