Description
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) is an independent agency of state government charged with regulating the conduct of horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing and related activities within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The KHRC is a leader in the welfare of horse and rider and the safety and integrity of horse racing.
We are looking for an Auditor for Special Investigations I to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Auditor for Special Investigations I, you will Perform beginning level duties in planning and conducting investigations involving the examination of financial records and other related records to determine whether violations of policies, rules, regulations and laws have occurred; and performs other duties as required.
Auditor for Special Investigations I Job tasks include:
  • Participates in the development of plans and methods for conducting an investigative audit, which includes the creation and implementation of internal controls and policies for specific processes.
  • Learns to plan and implement investigative audit services, focusing on examining financial documents, accounting records, and business records to determine if policies, rules, regulations, and laws have been violated.
  • Assists in collecting information from other agencies and examining surveillance systems. Conducts an analysis of activities of privately and publicly held businesses by examining relevant records, including computer records and public documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports, incorporating opinions from other internal auditors and personal findings, learned from conducting unplanned observations.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting).

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of accounting, auditing, investigative, management, or computer science experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Certification as Certified Public Accountant will substitute for the required education.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title typically perform duties in an office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
