Trinity Catholic High School prepares students for life after high school by teaching them virtue and knowledge as they will need to be contributing members of society based on the Gospel message and Roman Catholic teaching. The Athletic Director is responsible for the development, management, coordination, and supervision of a competitive high school athletic program with 25 programs, more than 100 coaches, and more than 400 student-athletes. The Athletic Director also (1) provides visionary leadership, strategic planning, and policy development for the athletics program; (2) a maintains an athletics program that is committed to the school’s Catholic mission and strategic priorities; (3) provides supervision of assigned sports programs (4) supervises and monitors the athletic budget for all sports programs; and (5) ensures compliance with all school, Diocese of Orlando, and FHSAA policies, rules, and regulations.
The Athletic Director reports to the President (or designee of the President).
Specific Duties:
Department Management:
- Oversee, manage, and evaluate coaches and assistant coaches in all sports programs.
- Periodically review policies and procedures and recommend changes or additions as necessary.
- Leads the development and maintenance of an athletic program ingrained with TCHS’s Catholic values and ideals.
- Assist administration with strategic planning for the future of the athletic program.
- Explain, implement, and enforce school policies and procedures.
- Recommends hires within the athletic department, to the President.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.
- Develop and update an athletic handbook.
Budget Oversight:
- Ensure proper fiscal responsibility of athletic department staff.
- Oversee the operation of Celtic Threads. Provide regular inventory and profit/loss statements as requested.
- Develop a budget for the athletic program which includes each sports particular budget needs as well as those of the general athletic department.
Sports Oversight:
- Ensure that all equipment and supply needs are met.
- Ensure that all coaches meet school, diocesan, and FHSAA requirements for employment.
- Schedule transportation needs for assigned sports programs.
- Schedule games, practice, and facility use, AND communicate these schedules to coaches regularly.
- Work with coaches to schedule all necessary training.
Facilities:
- Works with the president on any and all projects which will grow the athletic infrastructure
- Responsible for informing administration of infrastructure needs as they pertain to athletic facilities.
- Responsible for all athletic facilities, their upkeep and improvement.
Facilities and Operations:
- Serves as administrator on duty at athletic events and assigns other administrators to assist in this duty
- Camp management: Responsible for approval or any athletic camp held at TCHS.
- Schedules any rentals of the athletic facilities and assures that all needed paperwork as well as rental fees are complete and recorded appropriately.
- Have experience coaching at the high school or collegiate level, preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a strong preference for a master’s degree in business, sport management, or education administration.
- Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus.
- Possess 3-5 years of experience in athletic leadership and management, preferred.
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of the school.
- Be a role model for ethical, moral, and Catholic principles.
- Be a high-energy, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in an atmosphere in which time-sensitive deadlines are the norm, as are interruptions.
