This position is responsible for completing the basic financial processes. The basic duties include recording accounting entries for CITGO, LDC and ARUBA. Additional duties include reconciling general ledger account balances and preparing correcting entries identified during that reconciliation. Also duties include reconciliation and recording entries for Demurrage, Line Handling, Oil Loss, Bad Debt, and LOC/Cust Guarantees. Recording accounting entries for all credit card fees and adjustments relating to AR Securitization. Also duties may include supporting the above activities through reference to authoritative accounting literature and identifying impact of accounting transaction reported on Balance sheet. In addition, the job identifies and develops financial processes within the Controller’s organization. Identifies where existing accounting practices are not in compliance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and proposes changes to those practices to ensure compliance with GAAP. This position works closely with Treasury, General Accounting, and Credit. Analysis will include, but is not limited to balance sheet accounts; required correction of errors and exceptions identified. The employee will use some knowledge of GAAP and CITGO financial processes as they relate to both corporate and business units. The employee will act as an analytical resource within the Controller’s organization (and within the business units when necessary). They will use creative thinking skills for problems solving, analyzing and researching. Perform analytical tasks independent of direct daily supervision. Gain detailed knowledge of CITGO processes in specific areas of responsibility including interactions with other business units.

Degree

• College Degree (Bachelors Level).

• 0-3 years.

• Strong reconciliation skills required.
• Extensive computer skills: Excel, Access, Word and the ability to maintain those skills as technology changes.
• At least 2 years of experience with SAP or a similar ERP application is preferred.
• Performs continuous review and evaluation of transactions within assigned area to ensure recorded results are in agreement with generally accepted accounting principles. When processes are not in agreement with GAAP, modify those processes to remove the possibility of audit exceptions and later corrections. Meet closing and financial reporting deadlines. Identify and recommend changes if needed to ensure all activity conforms to CITGO best practices for controls and processes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of refining, marketing and transportation business processes.
• Ability to work in a team/co-worker environment.
• Review and analyze daily information for manual and rejected invoices, including ICE corrections and debit/credit memo postings. Post all ZDCMEMOs in SAP. Research and resolve issues with reprocessing of the ZDCMEMO and all rejects from the Information Architecture (IA) interface report. Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and monitoring the Bad Debt Reserve GL. Update and document postings for all entries. Prepare write-offs by reviewing information provided, and collaborate with Credit Manager to resolve issues.
• Work with limited supervision.
• Analyze activity and prepare reconciliations related to accrual and prepaid accounts - Bad Debt, Bank Receivables and Prepaid Cash. Perform the day to day accounting transactions and general ledger account postings for all credit card fees and accounts associated with AR Securitization facility. Prepare quarterly reports used for balance sheet reporting, such as Accounts Receivables Sales Data report and AR Trade contra Reclass.
• Perform day-to-day accounting transactions and general ledger postings. Maintain appropriate reconciliations for all assigned accounts and balances maintained in Accounts Receivable/Cash Application department. Maintain close communication with the business units, such as Treasury, Credit, Customer Service, General Accounting, and Revenue Accounting. Maintain appropriate auditable supporting documentation. Provide explanations and analysis to management. Prepare the quarterly PBC’s requested by the external auditors and provide all the support documentation requested on an annual basis. Identify and recommend changes if needed to ensure all activity conforms to CITGO best practices for controls and process. Develop and maintain documented procedures for the activities performed.
• Perform day-to-day accounting transactions and general ledger account reconciliations for Demurrage, Line Handling, Solvents, and Quantity and Quality Loss. Prepare and review journal entries to properly record CITGO business transactions. Perform continuous review and evaluation of transactions within assigned area to ensure recorded results are in agreement. Identify emerging accounting issues before they have a negative impact on the area to which the analyst is assigned.
• Skills in change management both in accepting change and leading change processes.
• Prioritize work when given multiple projects.
