Summary:


This position is responsible for executing large capital projects that achieve business, financial, and strategic objectives by leading and directing a team of project managers/engineers. This team is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple large-scale capital projects. This team will collaborate through all project phases with cross-functional teams at the facility and/or the corporate office such as safety, operations, finance, food safety and quality assurance including technical services, maintenance, engineering, and environmental services. This is especially important to determine project scope and process details while organizing the appropriate resources and managing the design and construction effort. This team will lead or support the bidding process to select contractors and equipment vendors which will provide the best value and quality with the demonstrated ability to deliver on schedule and on budget. The project management team will generate specifications, coordinate procurement activities, and make fact-based decisions during execution to achieve the project deliverables regarding production throughput, product quality/specification adherence, functionality, budget control and schedule. This position will also be responsible for managing outside engineering and construction management resources.


Location: This position will be based out of our Fayetteville, Arkansas office. Relocation assistance may be available for those who qualify based on the Tyson Relocation Policy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintain a working knowledge of USDA guidelines and OSHA standards and be able to apply them to plant layouts and process designs.
  • Interact with a broad section of the industry not only at the plant level but including government, vendor, and industry representatives.
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate policies, standards, specifications, and practices that support and enhance the company strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization’s established policies and objectives.
  • This position is also responsible for personnel management to include hiring, developing, and promoting personnel; and maintaining knowledge of and familiarizing all Team Members with Tyson’s personnel training, purchasing, and safety programs and procedures; and for any other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid works, Revit, and/or Visio a plus.
  • Experience: 8+ years' applicable engineering or project management experience required, preferably in the food or beverage industry; knowledge of and experience with the business processes related to poultry manufacturing preferred; proven record of leading capital project teams and/or coaching-leading engineering peers.
  • Education: Four-year engineering or construction management degree
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, and innovation.
  • Outstanding team player and self-starter with a passion for customer service, developing business relationships and solving complex business issues. Must have a passion for learning.
  • This position will interact with and is expected to communicate across a range of user’s, stakeholders, and management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Travel: 25% to 50% will vary by project location and complexity.
