The Assoc Data Scientist will serve in a critical role within GEHA’s Analytic Center of Excellence (ACOE), building Advanced Analytics methods to provide insights and solutions for complex business opportunities. This role will work closely with the Data Integration and Analytic Solution teams to ensure alignment across the longitudinal evolution of capturing data to creating actionable insights.
SKILLS
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans
  • Assist in the development of big data analytics to facilitate the work of data scientists and solution developers
  • Partner with internal customers to understand business needs and help develop analytic ready data sets to solve those needs solutions.
  • Process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Participates in multiple analytics project teams
  • Perform data manipulation, wrangling, cleansing, and analysis (in Python or R)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with using data visualization tools
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding of modern machine learning techniques and their mathematical underpinning, such as classification, recommendation systems, optimization, deep learning, and natural language processing
  • Strong understanding of Healthcare or willingness to learn, with an interest in collaborating with non-technical, non-mathematician resources to drive innovative solutions
  • Experience with statistical modeling tools such as R, and scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience handling large size datasets
  • Able to write production level code, which is well-written and explainable
  • Very good understanding of relational databases and SQL
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a highly quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, etc.) or equivalent experience

Work-at-home requirements
  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms
  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.

The annual base salary range for this position is $77,636 - $108,764 USD.
