Summary of Job Duties:
  • The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program around poultry nutrition and/or poultry feed milling or manufacturing. The successful candidate must be able to direct and advise graduate students and have an interest in teaching poultry nutrition or poultry feed manufacturing / feed milling at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will supervise a research program with emphasis on poultry nutrition or feed manufacturing. Excellent opportunities exist for active collaboration with current faculty within the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science as well as faculty from the Department of Animal Science and other units in Bumpers College and the U of A System Division of Agriculture.
  • The successful candidate will work in the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science (CEPS), which includes Department of Poultry Science faculty and affiliated Division of Agriculture and USDA-ARS scientists. The CEPS is housed in the John W. Tyson building, a 112,000 square foot laboratory, classroom, and office complex located on the campus of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The CEPS also includes a poultry research farm, a pilot processing plant, feed mill, poultry health and isolation unit, and commercial style research farms for broilers.
  • The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville invite applications for a 12-month, tenure-track assistant or associate professor with an appointment in the Department of Poultry Science. The appointment will consist of effort expectations of research (80%) and teaching (20%).

Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
  • PhD in poultry nutrition, poultry feed milling / manufacturing, or closely related field with application to monogastric nutrition.
  • Evidence of demonstrated research ability and effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Teaching experience, background or training with feed manufacturing or milling, and demonstrated ability to establish relationships with the commercial poultry industry.
