Position Description
Performs executive, administrative duties concerning various aspects of operational management in support of the Service Plus philosophy and mission of Texas Tech.

Major/Essential Functions

• Responsible for financial aid awarding, disbursement, and compliance for a complex financial aid operation.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external partners and serves on institutional and external committees as assigned.
• Assists the Vice President with the creation, implementation, and execution of a strategic financial aid plan using data-informed decisions to maximize financial resources for the recruitment and retention of students.
• Primary responsibility for the data review and submission of institutional, state, federal, externa, and ad hoc reporting.
• Provides leadership for planning, management, program evaluation, personnel, budgets, disbursement, compliance, audits, and suggestions to upgrade technology for information systems.
• Monitoring and maintaining institutional compliance with all financial aid programs, interpreting and providing technical guidance to the University on current, federal, state, and institutional policies and practices; and updating the University on new guidelines.
• Allocates and monitors operating budget for the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
• Serves as primary contact for the Department of Education in relation to financial matters.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in appropriate field based on assigned area of responsibility; eight years of professional and management experience in related area. Additional job-related education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Integrates efforts to maximize Financial Aid's role in recruiting and retention.
• Master's degree, preferred.
• 10 years of financial aid upper-level management experience.
• Experience in budgeting and expenditures of institutional funds.
• In-depth knowledge of state and federal financial aid compliance and regulations.
