Job Description
Description: The Assistant to the Tribal Secretary Department provides direct confidential administrative support to the Tribal Secretary Department and acts as liaison between the Tribal Administration, Tribal Members and the general public. Essential Duties: Plan, prioritize, direct, and manage all administrative support for the department. Draft, review, and process correspondence and communications. Develop department procedures ensuring seamless information flow between departments and leadership. Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, charters, ordinances, and laws needed to carry out the functions of the department. Plan and execute comprehensive department transitions, including developing and documenting transition protocol and procedures. Plan, coordinate and manage all required meetings and events. Establish, coordinate, and manage program operations, budgets, records and reports within approved Tribal policies and procedures. Respond to department inquiries and relay information in a professional and courteous manner. Additional Duties: Aid the Tribal Secretary in carrying out duties defined by the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe's Constitution. Assist with the coordination of Tribal Elections and applicable onboarding and transitions, as assigned. Gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare reports as assigned. Manage projects and meet strict deadlines. Manage and maintain department records Ensure required equipment is available and information is gathered and distributed as appropriate. Attend all necessary meetings, trainings, and workshops. The Tribe values its commitment to community service and the well-being of its members. Requirements: Excellent research skills required. Ability to work with a diverse population and various communication styles and preferences. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and communicate with tact, discretion and courtesy. Excellent customer service skills and written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse populations. Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to monitor and prioritize workload efficiently and meet strict deadlines. Adaptable, transparent and accountable. Strong project management, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and technological literacy is required. Education & Experience: Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Public Administration, or a closely related field OR a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for degree requirement. Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required. Successful team leadership and management experience strongly preferred. Tribal Government experience strongly preferred. Other Requirements: Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation. Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening. Tribal Preference: The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe follows the Tribal Hiring Preference as outlined in tribal policies, including the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). TERO sets forth certain hiring preferences for qualified individuals who are enrolled in a federally recognized Indian tribe, as well as, in some cases, preference for certain family members of those individuals. Additional Information: Salaried, compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $57,494.97. This position is a regular full-time position and employment is at-will. Location: Snoqualmie, WA Benefits: First of the month following date of hire - competitive medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance benefits for all regular full-time employees.
