ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes departmental invoices on a weekly basis
- Perform ebook quality review
- Hire and supervise freelance proofreaders for conversions as needed
- Copyedit and proofread materials for approximately 60 titles trade and mass market conversions per year, including front and back matter and cover copy, mechanicals, and proofs
- Attends relevant department and interdepartmental meetings
- Manage content correction process for backlist titles
- Apply for CIP data from the Library of Congress for all original titles
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- 1 year relevant work experience, preferably in trade publishing, or an internship at a trade publishing house
- Strong computer/MS Word skills and knowledge of electronic copyediting and coding
- Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Solid copyediting and proofreading skills
- Candidate must be detail- and accuracy-oriented and have the ability to balance many projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of quality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The compensation for this position is $41,000 - $47,500 per year. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
