Position Title: Assistant Merchant

Reports to: Chief Merchandising Officer / General Manager

Location: Cincinnati (Blue Ash), Ohio

Position Summary:

The Territory Ahead is looking for an energetic and ambitious assistant merchant to use their skills and passion in supporting Merchandising and Product Development for the brand. This role is a fantastic opportunity to learn and experience all the components in building a brand and the strategies that propel the brand to the next level. Under the guidance of the Chief Merchandising Officer/General Manager, the assistant will support the team in a variety of day to day tasks, as well as in-season and future season strategies. The key to this person’s success will be the ability to collaborate with the entire team to maintain the brand mission and DNA. This individual must be a go-getter, one who is continually willing to go above and beyond the normal call of duty.

Duties / Responsibilities:

·Assist in the reporting and analysis of sales data

·Support inventory analyses and re-forecasting process

·Assist in management of the Open-to-Buy

·Maintains in depth knowledge of the product categories

·Market awareness and research of relevant market & competitive trends

·Competitive analyses and identifying product and pricing opportunities

·Participate in the creative process and line building

·Support in the catalog pagination process

·Support in maintaining the Merchandising Line Plan

·Develop and maintain a weekly product development calendar coordinated with the priorities of the line plan

·Daily communication with internal partners as well as external vendors and suppliers

·Assistance with social media platforms

·Demonstrate high energy level and be a self-starter, team player

Minimum Qualifications:

·Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree preferred in Business or Fashion Merchandising & Buying

·Previous merchandise experience or merchandise internship strongly preferred or one year of retail experience preferred

·Numerical and analytical ability required

·Trend and fashion awareness with ability to understand current trends, competition and market

·Systems and Computer Savvy – MS Office, Outlook and Excel (comfortable with formulas and pivot tables), PowerPoint

·Goal oriented

·Strong written and verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate in a professional manner and respond with timeliness

·Negotiating and influencing skills

·Strong attention to detail and format

·Must have ability to multi-task

·Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and reprioritize projects frequently
