POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer/Planner coordinates and controls procurement and inventories of specific commodities required to support production at Boston Whaler.

ROLES AND RESPONSBILITIES

• Identifies and develops opportunities for material cost reductions
• Manages inventory levels within defined parameters
• Ensures materials are available to support production in the event of schedule and change orders
• Analyzes, forecasts, and schedules materials for assigned accounts using an MRP system
• Takes a pro-active role with other company employees in assessing present raw material fulfillment practices and works with appropriate internal and external groups to initiate and execute process improvements
• Establishes professional working relationships with suppliers and communicates priorities for critical shipments
• Identifies and communicates component quality issues

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

Bachelor

• Lean Six Sigma and Statistical Analysis experience preferred
• Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
• ’s degree preferred.
• (Ultriva, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, etc.)

SKILLS

• Proven sourcing and problem-solving skills required
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
