Secluded on nearly 10 acres on Waller Creek, the Commodore Perry Estate comprises a 10,800-square-foot home, a chapel and gardens enclosed within a walled compound in the style of an Italian country villa and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now refreshed and refurbished as a luxury 54 room resort, the property will open in mid-2020.


Role Summary


Become one of the authors of our story. Join our Front Office Team at the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, Texas. Assist with the management of all aspects of the Front Desk/PBX/Bell & Valet functions in accordance with our standards. Is primarily responsible for the Bell/Valet operation and is ‘hands-on’ when required. Handles all guest opportunities in the absence of the Front Office Manager. Directs, implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff. Maximizes the financial performance of the hotel by providing the highest possible guest service and product. Performs management duties in the absence of the Front Office Manager. Troubleshoots guest and team member opportunities problems.


Core Responsibilities


Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:


  • Schedule off-site parking as required.
  • Daily house count and cover counts, expected in outlets.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of the team.
  • Handle any accident or incident report.
  • Assist with the annual review process.
  • Prepare a schedule ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Edit punch sheets in the absence of the Front Office Manager.
  • Assign rooms ensuring requests are met and rooms are utilized for maximum yield.
  • Handle all guest complaints and resolve or leave information for appropriate follow up.
  • All room types, layout, décor, appointments and location.
  • Work closely with Estate Host, Bell/Valet to ensure standards are consistently maintained.
  • Scheduled daily group or private dining activities.
  • Property features/services/hours of operation.
  • Cover meal breaks as necessary.
  • Emergency and after-hour procedures.
  • Conduct as least one complete tour of the property.
  • Conduct room inspections.


Required Qualifications


  • Full knowledge of front desk operations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and information.
  • Ability to understand guest problems and find solutions.
  • College degree.
  • Ability to work cohesively with all departments.
  • Ability to promote positive relations with guests, staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to think clearly and quickly.
  • Guest relations training.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up.
  • Ability to remain calm, courteous, and helpful.
  • Ability to use good judgment and maintain discretion and diplomacy while performing job duties.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Property Management Systems.
  • Ability to communicate verbally by phone, radio, in person, and in writing.
  • Two years of hotel experience, preferably in front of the house and guest relations.
