Salary: $71,926.00 - $94,265.00 Annually

This position is open for current Regular Full Time County employees only.


The Assistant Director - Procurement assists the Director in all procurement related functions ensuring that the highest ethical standards are followed through separation of duties.


HIRING SALARY RANGE: $71,926 - $94,265

Duties And Responsibilities


  • Reviews and chooses method of formal solicitation.
  • Determines work priorities for department.
  • Approves purchase orders in excess of $25,000 and up to $100,000.
  • The Assistant Director of Procurement, leads and directs the Procurement staff.
  • Stays abreast of the County Procurement ordinance and the business legal environment.
  • Procures goods and services for assigned departments.
  • Performs the duties of the Procurement & Contracts Director and assumes responsibility for the Department when the Director is unavailable.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and monitors Buyer productivity reports.
  • Approves purchases when County Council declares an emergency


Minimum Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of procurement & contracts as well as strong analytical, writing and communication skills.
  • Six (6) years or more of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, preferably in the public sector.
  • Two (2) years or more successful experience in leading staff.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
