Role Summary:


The Sundae brand is undergoing an exciting, high growth, entrepreneurial phase and the Assistant Director of Operations is a key position which will have a significant impact on the company’s success. We are seeking a tenacious leader who will make a meaningful contribution as Sundae transitions from a successful startup into a mature company. The Assistant Director of Operations will support the Director of Operations in overseeing hiring, training, and team development for all positions within the operations department, requiring bold decision making and leadership skills. This position demandsskillful organization and time management. The Assistant Director of Operations must have the attitude and aptitude to successfully perform every role underneath them while also possessing the strategic mindset to build a sustainable operation by recruiting and retaining talent from the ground up.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, cleanliness, and other industry standards
  • Assist the Director of Operations in providing regular and effective feedback to direct reports, completingperformance reviews, and administering disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Promote a positive culture of continuous improvement with a focus on SOP execution, employee retention, and achieving financial metrics
  • Frequently visit retail and production locations to meet with location managers and review key business indicators to proactively identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement
  • Stand-in for retail and production management during vacancies, vacations, emergency coverage, and when launching new locations
  • Become proficient in company standards for recruiting, training, retaining, and coaching retail and productionleadership roles
  • Provide exemplary leadership in motivating others to meet or exceed company values in customer service, operational efficiency, and product quality
  • Maintain professional growth by being proactive and seeking out knowledge and education
  • Assist the Director of Operations with overseeing the dailyoperations of all retail and production locations within the company. The company currently has 5 retail locations and 3 production facilities within a 100-mile radius from Vail, CO to Aspen, CO
  • Be a brand ambassador—cultivate relationships that enhance the company’s image with employees, customers, vendors, and in our communities
  • Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, logistics, administration, and senior leadership to develop and implement company goals, programs, and policies which build long-term success

Requirements


ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid Manager SERV Safe Certificate or equivalent (may be obtained within 90 days of hire date)
  • Multi-unit operation experience preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Proficient computer, software, and technology skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Associate’s degree or higher in business administration, hospitality or related field preferred
  • Professional demeanor, strong communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic, excellent time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to respond to and courteously accept unexpected requests
  • 4+ years of experience required in a management or leadership role in the restaurant industry


ROLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Constantly use manual (e.g., scooping ice cream) and automatic food service equipment and touchscreens
  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladder to clean or lift items stored above
  • Occasionally position self to clean, maintain equipment, and retrieve items below counter height
  • Willing and able to work in various weather conditions and to safely drive in unpredictable weather and traffic situations
  • Move, traverse or remain in a stationary position for up to 10 hours
  • Regularly move up to 25 pounds for a distance of 50 feet or more
  • Occasionally move up to 50 pounds for a distance of 25 feet or more
