Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Environmental (Housekeeping) Services will assist the Director in being financially accountable for the department by operating within the approved budget, while also providing the Client with the maximum value spent. In addition, this role will foster interdepartmental relations and integrate the environmental services department with the hospital plan of operations. This position will lead a team of 7 housekeeping Associates at a 47-bed hospital account in Fishers. Anticipated schedule will be varied to include days/evenings/weekends/holidays. Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts regular staff meetings and communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities
- Orients, trains, and supervises team
- Follows-up on all client requests
- Conducts regular inventory of housekeeping supplies
- Schedules major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available
- Establishes and reviews standards and work procedures for all housekeeping staff in accordance with established policies and practices
- Interviews, selects, hires, evaluates, and recommends termination of facility housekeeping personnel
- Completes regular inspections and evaluations of the facility; has the ability to recommend action items; assists with relocations within the facility
- Plans work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services are rendered to all areas
- Assists system director with budget
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of all housekeeping procedures preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication, listening and empathy, and problem solving (one-on-one and group) skills
- Customer service experience is required
- Excellent stress management skills, administrative and organizational, and follow-through (with associates and clients) skills required
- Housekeeping management experience preferred
- Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma/GED required
- Good work ethic and drive and initiative for quality and customer service
- Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff, to function appropriately under stress, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements
