Job Description
Based in Oakland, NJ, Topcon is a comprehensive diagnostic device manufacturer within the worldwide eye care community. It introduced the world’s first commercial back-of-the-eye Spectral Domain (SD) and Swept Source (SS) optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems, which have driven innovation in eye care.

More recently, to develop the most efficient, pragmatic and state-of-the-art solutions, Topcon formed a new strategic division, Topcon Healthcare Solutions, whose primary objective is to create world-class software solutions for the eye care industry and beyond. The company's products enable the collection and visualization of a wide range of imaging and clinical data while providing quantitative and clinical analysis capabilities.

Topcon’s software gives clinicians access to patient exam data captured from OCTs, Visual Fields, Fundus Cameras, and other Topcon and third-party devices. Topcon leverages its new data management system called Topcon Harmony, where practitioners gain access to both DICOM and non-DICOM information stored in a central, cloud-based environment. Additionally, Topcon now provides an integrated service that connects practitioners to an extensive network of reading services to assist in the management of sight-threatening eye diseases.

The AM (Area Manager – Screening Sales) is responsible to promote, influence, and sell Topcon’s Diabetic Screening program in a designated territory. The AM will be expected to travel up to 50% of the time within the territory and attend national trade shows as scheduled. The AM must become knowledgeable in both the clinical and technical application of all products and remain current on new advances, concepts, products, etc.

Job Duties:
  • Perform special projects or duties for individual enrichment, self-growth, and/or company benefit.
  • Responsible for effective territory planning to achieve the maximum efficiency of time to service and develop current accounts, cultivate new accounts, obtain orders, and produce adequate sales volume to meet outlined sales goals.
  • Effectively communicate with sales management and various departments within Topcon (Customer Service, Product Service, Marketing, Finance, etc.) on competitive issues, territory issues, status of orders, etc.
  • Maintain continuity with the customer as a source of information, problem solver, and educator.
  • Develop an annual business plan that will be modified and/or updated on a quarterly basis. The plan will include clear, concise plans and strategies to meet annual quotas.
  • Maintain detailed high-quality up-to-date account profiles in our CRM (ongoing).
  • Promote and sell Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Program through Direct Sales, creating new opportunities and following up on a key leads
  • Develop knowledge around population health, healthcare economics, and health plans
  • Conduct group presentations to customers for product and/or educational training in support of Topcon products and programs, as required. Tailor presentations and materials for specific customer needs and requirements.

Education & Experience:
  • 2-3 years of Sales experience that demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the sales process and ethical business practices.
  • A four (4) year degree in technical science or business discipline is preferred.
  • The candidate must live no more than 1 hour from a major U.S. airport.
  • Past sales experience within physician offices and hospital space or Capital Equipment is preferred.
