The Role
The Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) provides support to the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in handling security-related activities including coordinating the completion of security packages and assisting in processing suitability prescreens. This position performs a wide range of functions to ensure the protection of the company and government sensitive and classified information.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and track badging and issuance of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) through internal systems; assist in the management of exchanges and returns of all GFE in the event of equipment upgrades and employee separations.
- Assist FSO in ensuring candidates complete all enablement tasks promptly and accurately at the request of the client agency.
- Initiate security packages for public trust clearances and track progress across multiple agencies.
- Assist staff with completion and submittal of Standard Form (SF)-86 and security packet forms.
- Screen and process Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing (e-QIP) applications (SF-86s/SF-85s/SF-85Ps) for correctness, accuracy, and identify issues prior to submission.
- Perform all other necessary tasks as assigned by FSO.
- Assist in processing internal suitability prescreens and communicate determinations.
- Coordinate fingerprinting processes across clients, to include shipping fingerprinting materials if required.
- Review security packages for completeness prior to submitting to FSO for final review and submission to client agency.
Education and Experience:
- 2+ years of Knowledge of DoD security systems or databases, including Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
- College degree or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Title 32 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Intelligence Community Directive (ICD), and DoD security requirements.
- At least 4 years of related facility or personnel security assistance experience with a government contractor managing security requirements for sensitive security programs, including Department of Defense (DoD) Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs.
Skills Required:
- Independent judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve security-related matters.
- Ability to be highly flexible and motivated.
- Completion of the following the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency DCSA, Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) course: FSO Program Management for Non-Possessing Facilities.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a positive and professional attitude.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail, data quality, and data integrity.
- Skilled in using Deltek Costpoint and Paycor a plus.
Clearance:
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
