Apple’s Interactive Media Group (IMG) is looking for a creative, self motivated and dedicated software engineer to join the AirPlay Audio team with a focus on building new audio features for AirPlay 2. This team builds the foundations and future of AirPlay Audio, the technology that powers the customer experience of iOS, macOS and tvOS networked media playback. The Audio and Media Technology group provides the media foundation across all of Apple's innovative products including iPhone, iPad, Mac, AppleTV, HomePods, and operating systems. Combining ground breaking software techniques with next-generation hardware, Audio and Media Technology takes the media experience to the next level. Key Qualifications

  • Expertise in media playback pipeline programming with emphasis on audio
  • Experience debugging problems in a highly concurrent environment
  • Strong programming skills with C and/or C++
  • Experience with using and developing media libraries especially for mobile platforms

Description

The Connected Media group is looking for a senior software engineer to join our team to work on AirPlay Audio. We are looking for expert developers that have debugged complex and layered software stacks. You will be curious, self-motivated, and thorough when they approach new challenges. As an engineer on our team you will be responsible for crafting and implementing new features in AirPlay across our product lines. You will be able to collaborate effectively on a team, and thrives in a dynamic, highly fluid environment.

Education & Experience

BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in developing and maintaining an API for multiple clients
  • Experience as Tech Lead or equivalent engineering leadership as an individual contributor
  • Expertise in using and developing media libraries, especially for mobile platforms
  • Familiarity with inner workings of media systems
  • An Upbeat, adaptable, and results oriented with a positive attitude
  • Desired, but not required:
  • Familiarity with network media streaming protocols such as RTP and RTSP
  • Excellent communication and reciprocal skills
  • Familiarity with the TCP/IP suite of protocols

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $115,000 and $217,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
