Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

POSITON REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering


Position Purpose:

The manufacturing engineer determines the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for production parts. The engineer will oversee a product from the estimation stage through to satisfactory production, coordinating the manufacturing processes involved to meet customer requirements. The engineer will provide support for existing production of parts as necessary.


Background and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Education: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science (with metals background)

Experience, knowledge and skills:

A manufacturing engineering professional with 2 – 5 years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge from a metal based manufacturing environment using metal forming (swaging, flow forming, forging), heat treat, NDT and CNC machining. Must be familiar with machining equipment (conventional and CNC) and inspection techniques. Strong background in Autodesk Inventor or similar product. Additionally, exposure to design areas using FEA software like Catia is preferred. Candidate will have knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including 6S concepts, VSM, SPC, Standard Work etc.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Estimate / Evaluate production times on current parts and RFQs from Customers
  • Design/improve dies, tools and fixtures on CAD
  • Investigate defects and provide corrective action
  • Be present in manufacturing environment in order to analyze manufacturing needs and provide support with any technical issues
  • Research and design manufacturing processes
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and tools


Preferred Skills:

  • Trouble shooting, Die & Process improvements
  • Lean Manufacturing [CI]
  • Aerospace AS9100 environment , Metal based manufacturing, Metal Forming

· Knowledge of: tooling design, materials, and parts in the metal fabrication process, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, GD&T


General: Candidate will be;

  • Comfortable with frequent interactions on the shop floor
  • ITAR verifiable
  • Able to work with cross functional departments
