TELEWORK

This position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in office.


YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of Texas Work Force Commission’s Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of our Occupational Licensing and Registration Division.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a part of the division’s Occupational Licensing & Registration team, our Administrative Assistant V will play a key role in achieving Texas Work Force Commission’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

  • Answer and screen phone calls, routes to appropriate staff, takes messages, and/or provides basic program information; greets and assists visitors.
  • Provide administrative/clerical support for the Occupational Licensing Section of the Occupational Licensing and Registration Division of the Texas Work Force Commission).
  • Present administrative support for the section manager and staff, including: scheduling meetings, providing meeting notes, purchasing of goods and service, and timekeeping.
  • Coordinate the section’s travel authorizations, including: creating, processing, and tracking travel requests and vouchers; verifying budget availability and reconciling travel expenditures in the Budget Accounting and Monitoring System (BAMS); and communicating with staff and Agency Travel Unit to resolve travel-related issues.
  • Prepare, review, and/or distribute correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus five years of fulltime experience providing administrative support in an office setting.

Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience with a maximum substitution of four years.

OR

  • Two years as an Administrative Assistant IV at Texas Work Force Commission.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with purchasing goods and services/working with contracts.
  • Experience in contract development, management, or evaluation work.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience arranging and booking travel for staff.
  • Experience answering, screening, and routing telephone calls; or assisting walk-in customers.
  • Data entry experience with attention to details or following standard operating procedures.
  • Experience providing administrative support in an office setting.
