Job Description
  • Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience, and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
  • Initial contact for appeal decision disputes via telephone, walk-ins, and email.
  • Schedule customer escalation meetings, parking exception requests meetings, and other meetings as directed by management.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Assists with the issuance of permits.
  • Process special requests per management approval.
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent with three years of experience in administrative staff work.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, follow up, be detailed oriented, and track multiple tasks in a high-volume and fast paced environment.  Work efficiently with confidence and minimal oversight.
  • Perform vehicle registration inquiries via State of Maryland MVA.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
  • Update customer accounts as well as provide general information regarding citations, appeals, directions, and special requests; make determinations based on established policies and procedures.
  • Skill in various computer software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation programs, Internet, email, and calendaring software.
  • Ability to compose official correspondence, reports, research, and other complex documents’ providing administrative support to department management; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Ability to familiarize and use department industry technology
  • Primary for the front desk customer service for phone calls, walk-ins, online chat, email correspondence, and virtual interactions.
  • Serve as back up and assume responsibilities of Office Coordinator includes but not limited to processing basic citations appeals, general account updates for special groups, process department guest code requests, and assist as a department representation for campus events.
  • Strong Customer Service background
  • Initial review of accounts to determine appropriate approaches.

Towson University is accepting applications for two (2) part-time Administrative Assistant II in the Department of Parking & Transportation. This position serves as a primary contact for the day-to-day initial customer interactions (phone calls, emails, walk-ins, chat, scheduling appointments, etc.) including account management, initial research of accounts, assisting management with special projects, and providing general information regarding citations, appeals, directions, and information on campus shuttle routes.


This role has been identified as essential personnel and may be required work outside of normal business hours in support of campus events. Shift #1 will be Monday & Tuesday 8 am - 4:30 pm and Wednesday 8 am-noon. Shift #2 will be Wednesday 1 pm - 5 pm, Thursday & Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm.


Salary And Benefits


$18.81/hr. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
