Job Description
Job Responsibilities


  • Research and respond to various office duties including routine and non-routine correspondence, phone requests/inquiries from state and local agency officials, inmates, inmate families and general public.
  • Prepares letters, memos, reports and notices for distribution.
  • Assist other departments with clerical and back-up needs, i.e., training, investigation, security, canteen, mailroom and switchboard during shortages.
  • Serves as the Administrative Assistant to assigned units, Associate Wardens and Warden's Administrative Assistant.
  • Order office supplies for institution.
  • Assist as required in emergency situation.
  • Take and transcribe minutes for all meetings.
  • Assist with IRC projects, plans, coordinates and supervises special projects, programs and activities as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
  • A High School diploma.
  • Two (2) years of responsible clerical, secretarial, or administrative experience.
May be required to have experience in CRT and/or personal computer.
