Accounts Receivable Specialist- Remote ($18.00 - $20.00 / Hour)

Primary Responsibilities

• Contact payers for claim updates via phone or various payer portals
• Collaborate with Cash, Audit, and Appeals teams
• Update patient files accurately and effectively with all collection activity
• Identify managed care contractual issues and provide feedback to payer relations
• Work in accordance with the employer's standards, practices, and policies

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend continuing education courses when available
• Communicate regularly with the RCM Management Staff
• Submit weekly summary reports
• Recognize denial trends
• Attend meetings as required

Education And Technical Skills

• Experienced with Durable Medical Equipment/Wound Care
• Keyboarding/typing skills of 50 wpm
• 1-2 years of experience in a medical/billing environment
• High School Diploma
• Knowledge of ICD10 codes and HCPC codes

Additional Eligibility Qualifications/Competencies

• Knowledge of health care system, including Medicare, Commercial, and Medi-cal/Medicaid coverages
• Compliance with HIPAA and PHI guidelines
• Able to apply critical thinking skills
• Strong knowledge of copay, coinsurance, and deductibles
• Brightree experience is a plus
• Self-motivated, proactive, and takes initiative
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Detail-oriented, strong communicator, organized, and able to multi-task
• Previous experience in insurance verification, benefits, pre-authorization, medical billing, and collections
• Knowledge of Office products such as Outlook E-mail, Word, and Excel
• Works well in a team environment and independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Periods of time in which sitting, standing, use of hand and foot motion, vision, hearing, summarizing, focusing with frequent interruptions are required.
