ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE CLERK


Title: Accounts Receivable Clerk Job Type: Non-Exempt

Department: Accounting Location: Mira Loma, CA

Supervisor: Accounting Manager

SUMMARY

We are looking for an analytical accounts receivable professional to assist our accounting department as it receives, processes, and collects on goods sold or services rendered. In this role, you will be required to review account information, correct discrepancies, and ensure customers are properly billed, and payments are collected.


To succeed as an accounts receivable professional, you should be a skilled and thorough researcher with excellent communication and record keeping skills. You should be detail oriented, organized, and self motivated with strong math and computer skills.


The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for assisting the accounting department to receive, process, and collect on goods sold or services rendered. This position is also responsible for reviewing account information, correct discrepancies, and ensure customers are properly billed, and payments are collected.


Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities are a general guideline and not intended to be an exhaustive list of the full scope of responsibilities. Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on business needs and at managements discretion.

  • Collaborates with other Accounts Receivable personnel.
  • Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
  • Research and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Work with customers department leads, supervisors, and/ or managers to review accounts, client payments, credit history, and develop new and/ or better repayment terms.
  • Obtaining information from other departments to ensure records are accurate and complete, and accounts receivable ledgers and journals are up to date.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, such as data entry, sending bill reminders, filing paperwork, and contacting clients to discuss their accounts.
  • Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing educational opportunities to update job knowledge.
  • Process, verify, and post payment receipts for goods sold or services rendered.
  • Creates reports regarding the status of customer accounts as requested.
  • Generate reports and statements.
  • Drafts correspondence for standard past due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining records regarding payments and account statuses.
  • Submit customer invoices and / or statements via specified and appropriate customer EDI provider.

Qualifications

Education/Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, research, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
  • 2 to 5 years or more of related accounts receivable experience required
  • Strong math, typing, and computer skills.
  • Experience w/ Adobe.
  • Valid Driver's License/Acceptable Driving Record
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and internal departments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Wage range DOE: $21/hr. to $27/hr.
