Position Overview

Join our dynamic team as an Accounting Manager with The Arc Ontario's Finance department. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team responsible for overseeing purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger tasks. Your keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will ensure timely payment processing, comprehensive financial reporting, and adherence to regulatory standards. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in training staff, supporting cash audits, maintaining property records, and driving the agency's financial success. Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am- 4pm

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the direct supervision and training of the Accounts Payable Bookkeeper, Purchasing Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and General Ledger Specialist. Supervision includes oversight of all assigned tasks as well as involvement in the appraisal and interview processes. Will have primary responsibility for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all tasks within these assigned areas of supervision. Provides backup for staff as needed.
• Maintain the agency's property records including fixed assets. Provide monthly fixed asset reports to the CFO. Maintain asset/furniture disposal requests and coordinate disposal. Responsible for annual physical inventory of fixed assets.
• Responsible NYS Contract MWBE process: goal worksheet, waivers, tracking MWBE vendor payments, entering payments in OPWDD's database, and complete the quarterly reporting as required by OPWDD. Works closely with Purchasing Specialist when soliciting bids and purchases so as to utilize MWBE vendors whenever possible (ensuring compliance with Agency purchasing policy).
• Responsible for Abbey Residences, Inc. (HUD) monthly general ledger, billings, certifications, audit preparation, annual budget and/or OCAF rent increase and all other related duties. Will ensure that The Arc Ontario/Abbey Residences are in compliance with all application HUD (U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development) Regulations.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree and over five (5) years of accounting experience or comparable with at least one year of supervisory experience (required). Experience in a not-for-profit environment is preferred.
• Strengths in problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
• Experience using accounting software.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
