The Opportunity

Position Summary:
The Academic Support Specialist designs and delivers all training content that supports the Academic Support Center (ASC) team. You will research and implement industry-standard best-practice training related to coaching and tutoring and will identify and curate ongoing professional development resources to the team. The Specialist also provides training/orientation resources to our student-facing University partners to ensure they have a full understanding of the services and supports offered by the Academic Support Center. You will report to the Director of Academic Support.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all appropriate internal and external entities to promote a positive staff experience.
  • Conduct annual review of training materials using Kirkpatrick model and analyze results to determine effectiveness of training and potential training gaps.
  • Support department or university projects related to ASC training as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Support leadership to identify gaps and understand training needs; make training recommendations based on reported QA trends.
  • Collaborate with partners in the Campus Wolak Center to understand common trends in performance related to training, and to refine the approach as needed.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.
  • Develop engaging onboarding and ongoing training and resources using instructional design methodology and adult learning theory, to meet the identified learning outcomes.
  • Research coaching and tutoring industry best practices to inform new and updated training and development needs for the team.
  • Design and deliver regular cross-departmental staff- and faculty-facing trainings related to the services and supports of the Academic Support Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • 3+ years' experience in Training, Learning and Development or related field
  • Experience developing learning content using software design tools (Ex. Articulate360, Adobe Suite, iSpring, Vyond)
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning theory
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage/prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners one-on-one and in a team environment
Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of UDL and ADA practices.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm EST. Must be flexible to work some weekends or evenings.
