Description


Louisiana Key Academy, a Baton Rouge charter school for dyslexic students, seeks highly motivated and certified Biology teacher to train in evidence-based practices for teaching dyslexic children. Louisiana Key Academy offers a unique opportunity for certified teachers to work towards certification as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) while earning competitive wages and benefits. Science classes are focused on project based learning at LKA.


Requirements


  • Willingness to participate in highly collaborative lesson planning and teaching situations
  • A strong science and lab background
  • An open-minded attitude toward academic instruction, including a willingness to “work outside the box” of traditional instructional methods
  • Must be certified to teach Biology
  • Evidence of individualized, interactive teaching philosophy
  • Evidence of strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • A strong desire to receive rigorous, ongoing professional training to deeply understand dyslexia and the effect of dyslexia on academic life
  • A willingness to receive and implement feedback regarding instructional practices
