714 - Registration Clerk (M-F 9:00Am-5:30Pm)

Purpose: Responsible for providing support to all roles: Arranges for the efficient admissions of outpatient, inpatient, ER registration & mobile testing. Ensures that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures regarding admissions and visitor policy.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Registers scheduled and walk in patients that arrive. Register direct and emergency room admissions.
2. Gathers necessary demographic, insurance information and any other pertinent billing information.
Runs eligibility on all available insurance plans through Experian on line or available insurance web site.
Completes admission/registration interviews consistent with current department policies. Inputs
patient information into the computer system. Completes consent
3. Armbands all patients before they leave registration
4. Scan forms and insurance cards into computer
5. Completes Medicare secondary payer questionnaire
6, Orders appropriate radiology test for walk in outpatients
7. Scans and deletes orders in WQM as needed/preprints routing slips for future days
8. Escorts patients to departments/door screening
9. Greets patients/visitors at entrance/performs temperature & symptoms checks
10. Register patients as they arrive for mobile testing
11. Understand proper PPE usage
12. Understand current Visitor Policy and ensure it is enforced
13. Respects and protects patients desire for anonymity, and documents in the patient information system
14. Follows HIPAA guidelines and distributes the Notice of Privacy Practices.
15. Requires working weekends
16 Ability to work closely with Case Management to start the authorization process for Admissions
Education: High School or equivalent (GED)
