The person holding this position assists in administration and enforcement of wage and hour laws assigned to the department by investigating, documenting, informal settlement discussions or recommending enforcement action on complaints filed with the department pursuant to the Payment of Wages and Fringe Benefits Act, Youth Employment Standards Act, Michigan's minimum wage law the Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act, the Paid Medical Leave Act, DTMB Prevailing Wage and the Human Trafficking Notification Act. The person holding this position is responsible for timely and accurate management of a caseload, including but not limited to system entries, written virtual, electronic communications, in person contacts, and participating in case hearings.

Work Coverage Area: Oakland, Wayne and Macomb Counties. While these are the base counties of responsibility, there is the potential to be assigned work in other counties statewide as needed.
Work Location: The Regulation Agent works from a home office (that is, their home). However, this is a field position that requires the establishment of the “Official Work Station” for travel purposes in one of the following counties, Oakland, Wayne or Macomb County.


All work must be performed in the Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position.


Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in business administration, criminal justice, criminology, law enforcement, police administration, security and loss prevention, or a related field.
Experience
Regulation Agent 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Regulation Agent 10
One year of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent 9.
Regulation Agent P11
Two years of professional experience providing regulation and investigative servicesequivalent to a Regulation Agent, including one year equivalent to a Regulation Agent 10.

Alternate Education and Experience

Regulation Agent 9
Two years of experience as a sworn detective at a law enforcement agency may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
Regulation Agent 10
Three years of experience as a sworn detective at a law enforcement agency may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
Regulation Agent P11
Four years of experience as a sworn detective at a law enforcement agency may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.

Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
