Senior Grant Accountant Jobs

Prior experience in accounting, auditing, public administration, higher education, or other related field.

Three years of professional business administration, grant and contract administration, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

High level math/accounting skills, strong reading comprehension skills, ability to interpret guidelines and instructions

Knowledge of regulations related to sponsored projects from private, state and federal sponsors

Maintains the finance and grants systems for proper tracking and reporting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs accounting preparation and administrative functions relative to maintaining compliance plan for each assigned grant.

Assists assigned departments with the preparation of grant applications.

Assists departments with subrecipient risk assessment and monitoring.

Maintains and distributes grant documents, checklists and other information.

Proven extensive knowledge of post award grants management experience, preferably in Higher Education.

Prior experience using integrated higher education financial systems.

Understand and explains applicable federal and state legislation, rules, regulations, and procedures to researchers, management, vendors, contracting agencies, and others.

Working knowledge of federal, state, and other governmental regulations.

Experience working with faculty members in higher education

Experience parsing complex documents, tracking multi-faceted requirements, and working with others to enable their fulfillment (3 years)

Familiarity with graduate degree granting, STEM-focused institutions of higher education

Experience editing and providing feedback on others’ technical content (2 years)

Experience with technology such as shared calendars and shared drives

Willing to learn and be taught new skills

Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the EV charging industry, government regulations, and funding trends.

7+ years of experience in grant writing or a related field

Strong research and writing skills, with an ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive proposals

Excellent communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of the EV charging industry and sustainable transportation preferred

5+ years of related financial management experience (advanced education may count toward experience)

Excellent interpersonal and management skills with facility to interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders

Advanced Excel skills required; experience using other accounting or financial software preferred

Draft and send gift acknowledgements; collaborate with members of Donor Relations team as appropriate

Assist in development and implementation of finance-related Program policies, procedures, and systems and revise as necessary

3+ years of grant administration experience preferred especially experience with NIH training grants

Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills

BA/S or equivalent experience in related field.

Demonstrated experience and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, accounting systems, budget development and administration is required.

Effective verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational and prioritization skills as well as presentation skills are necessary.

Employment overseas and experience working for an NGO with high levels of USAID funding is strongly preferred.

Perform periodic compliance monitoring of specific procedures or areas related to country operations.

· Skills – recent experience in Intacct accounting system a plus.

· Experience in monitoring gov grants and be familiar with city, state, and OMB guidelines.

· Background – experience in mid to large sized non-profit organization.

Specifically, the Sr. Grants Accountant will:

· Monitor and review payroll charges.

· Handle monthly G/L production, prepare journal entries, and conduct ad hoc account analyses.

3+ years offoreign government grant financial management and reporting experiences

Review time allocation to grants to ensure that allocations meet funding requirements, and that grant funds are being spent down appropriately

Support Director of Finance on audits and agreed-upon-procedures as needed, providing documentation and drafting responses to audit questions

Review all incoming grant agreements for their financial requirements to provide advice on their application, feasibility, and practical implementation

Ensure that directors and managerial staff understand and comply with funders terms and conditions as set out in grant agreements

Develop and review budgets for grant proposals aligned with organizational priorities

Understanding of the end-to-end grant management process

Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience

Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

Functional knowledge of the general accounting process

Flexible to new ideas and ways of accomplishing tasks

Notify programs of new grant opportunities, explain eligible uses and fiscal compliance requirements.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, local, and other funding source compliance, regulations, and laws.

Demonstrate working knowledge of or aptitude to learn grant administration processes, including reporting, record maintenance, billing support, contract compliance, and closeout;

Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field;

Individual with experience managing restricted funds or grants, non-profit, governmental, or school district experience preferred.

Abila/Sage MIP General Ledger Experience

Maintain records to ensure individuals that are allocated to federal grants are not overallocated.

Strong understanding of grant accounting

Coordinate with grant managers to keep an updated schedule of reporting requirements

General Ledger tracking & reporting on grant expenditure activities

Review and setup of awarded grants fund codes in the General Ledger

Verification of payroll related expenses to grants with proper documentation

File for reimbursement from all reimbursable grants

Create procedure manuals that document best practices for implementation & monitoring

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

Four years of progressive accounting experience, at least two of which are directly related to grant accounting

A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.
