BS Degree in Engineering; Welding Engineering preferred, Welding Engineering Technology or Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical, with experience related to welding acceptable.

Industrial experience in Engineering, related to welding fabrication a plus.

Working knowledge of applicable design Codes and Standards (AWS, ASME, API, ANSI, etc.)

Working knowledge with most Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Adobe, etc)

Interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, in the English language

Manage interfaces with customers, Engineering, and Inspection personnel as well as shop employees.

Manage installation, qualification and ramp-up of manufacturing equipment including but not limited to laser welding systems.

BS/MS/PhD Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or 3+ years relevant experience

Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software

Experience working with different laser welding tools , materials and vision systems

Strong hands-on experience with high-volume and pilot manufacturing

Develop laser weld processes and qualify them using statistically valid data sets and workflow

BS, MS in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent experience

Minimum three (3) years of experience automotive manufacturing

Prefer to have experience with match metal and dimensional issues

Computing skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, CATIA, 3DX

Good verbal and written communication skills

Hands-on experience with robot operations/programming (Fanuc and Kuka)

Evaluate and record results of welder qualification tests.

Work in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager to produce and maintain an Approved Suppliers List for products and services for distribution.

Manage Quality Control and Inspection personnel and their activities.

Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Preferred to be a Certified Welding Inspector CWI or equivalent certification may apply.

5+ years of experience in welding engineering

Experience with the joining requirements and validation of joints for electromechanical sub-assemblies (sensors, transmitters, power supplies, controllers, etc).

The ability to implement and validate Weld Quality Management Systems and Weld Audit Procedures for both fusion and solid-state welds

Experience with hybrid joining processes and fastening systems that utilize plastic deformation, such as flow drill screws and self-piercing rivets.

Familiarity with primary automotive structures with critical weld quality requirements, such as Body, Interior and Chassis assemblies.

Experience with computational analysis of welds, the generation of static and dynamic test data and support of CAE teams.

10+ years of experience as a welding engineer in a manufacturing environment

Troubleshoot and recover processes by PLC, HMI, or tool management software, and implement changes/improvements

Either a BS with 5+ years’ relevant experience or an MS in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.

2 or more years of experience in a production environment and/or proven manufacturing development track record.

Laser Welding experience a plus

Drive root cause analysis through process and equipment expertise, derive & execute DOE’s accordingly, correlate with upstream/downstream processes

Ensure manufacturing lines meet uptime, availability and reliability metrics – OEE, cycle time, quality and first time through.

Training or hands-on experience in Operational Excellence fundamentals, including 6S, Standard Work, and Visual Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

Bachelor’s degree in Welding or equivalent education and experience.

Requires daily onsite attendance at manufacturing plant; this is not a remote-work position

Five years of manufacturing experience with large, fabricated components.

Minimum of five year of experience with AutoCAD and Solid Works.

Management of suppliers during specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment

Proven communication skills and experience with cross-functional team interaction

Authoring of technical specifications for automated remote laser welding equipment

3+ years of work experience in laser welding manufacturing environment

Experience developing mechanical equipment, fixturing, tooling and layout in 3D and 2D CAD environment (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD)

Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment

Requirement to visit onsite fabrication facilities and offshore installation vessels and support pipeline welding procedure qualification or pipeline fabrication activities.

Review customer specifications for welding requirements.

Ensure data compiling of welding procedure qualification is accurate and correct

Work with Senior Engineer to serve as customer contact for technical issues regarding welding requirements.

Previous work experience (internship) in related field preferrable.

Excellent PC-based application skills, must be proficient in MS Word and Excel software.
