Junior Welding Engineer
:
Responsibilities:
The Junior Welding Engineer will be a technical resource covering welding & fabrication activities in the subsea business sector. They shall work closely with a Senior Welding Engineer in the department to assist in daily activities ensuring successful welding deliverables to the Subsea Project teams. They shall develop a strong understanding of welding, materials and NDT as it relates to subsea pipeline fabrication and installation by working with the Senior Welding Engineer.
The primary responsibilities of Junior Welding Engineering position include but are not limited to the following:
- Help to develop and/or review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), work instructions, customer requirements, proposals, reports, and other technical welding related documentation.
- Work with Senior Engineer to serve as customer contact for technical issues regarding welding requirements.
- Provide welding consultation for day-to-day welding issues.
- Reinforce and strengthen the HSES and Quality culture at every opportunity and promote correct behaviors through personal actions.
- Ensure utilization of current processes and continuously improve welding efficiencies
- Establish and qualify production friendly welding procedures.
- Help track production KPIs.
- Ensure data compiling of welding procedure qualification is accurate and correct
- Requirement to visit onsite fabrication facilities and offshore installation vessels and support pipeline welding procedure qualification or pipeline fabrication activities.
- Review customer specifications for welding requirements.
General:
- Previous work experience (internship) in related field preferrable.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC, passport, working visa(s) and medical certs such as BOSIET and OGUK.
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Materials Engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- Ability to prioritize workloads and to define/maintain cost basis and schedules.
- Working knowledge of materials, weldability and NDE methods including some knowledge of welding processes such as GMAW, PGMAW, GTAW.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Must have the ability to adapt, to establish and maintain strong relationships internally and externally.
- Excellent PC-based application skills, must be proficient in MS Word and Excel software.
- Preferable if there is a base knowledge of welding standards and regulations such as API and DNVGL. Ability to research and apply the required codes to given areas as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to tailor messaging to multiple types of audiences to include technical and non-technical, internal and external clients, vendors, and leadership. Communication in this context includes but is not limited to verbal, presentation, digital, and body language.
- Must have strong planning, organizational and time management skills including the ability to work under minimum supervision to achieve/meet customer contract requirements and expectations.

Work Environment: Office based position with occasional trips offshore.
- 75% office environment and 25% field (onshore / offshore; days / nights) environment. The office environment is a flexible working program with includes a minimum of 2 days in the office a week and 3 days maximum working from home (after initial probation period).
- Travel required to support onshore and offshore operations domestically and internationally.
Physical Demand:
- Frequent sitting and operating a computer when in the office.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs / ladders while onboard the vessel and platforms, as well as exposure to sea conditions (vessel movement, summer heat, etc.)
