Maintains continuing education (CE) hours

Complies with applicable State/Federal policies/guidelines/regulations Requirements:

Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience (Emergency/Urgent Care, Pediatrics, Primary Care); required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; required

Working knowledge of computer hardware/software; required

Case Management or Utilization Review experiences strongly preferred

Knowledge of patient insurance process and requirements preferred

2+ years of experience in an acute care hospital direct patient care setting required

Identifying the root cause for clinical claim denial

Reviewing medical records against nationally recognized clinical criteria guidelines (Interqual, MCG, NCD/LCD,DCA, etc.)

Using clinical decision making to determine the appropriate actions needed to recover or defend revenue

Provides appropriate pain/symptom management. Evaluates patient's response to treatments/medications.

Assess and provide patient and family/caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and self plan of care.

Minimum of one year clinical nursing experience required. Previous Home health or hospice experience required.

Able to work as part of interdisciplinary team to effectively manage patient care.

Provides direct patient care and telephonic triage, as defined in State Nurse Practice Act.

Responds to urgent and family/patients calls during "after normal business hours" through collaboration with on-call contracted answering service.

One year experience using data look-up and data entry functions on a mainframe or PC based computer system

Alpha-numeric data entry test (6,000 keystrokes per hour)

Two years experience as a medical receptionist

Two years experience in a customer service position

One year customer service experience either via telephone or in-person within the last five years

Experience in a call center environment

Communication Management and Nursing Responsibilities:

Provides appropriate, medically accurate, patient education in support of all services offered by PPGNHAIK

Enters accurate data into the Agency’s Practice Management and EHR systems.

Demonstrates proficiency in the use of PPGNHAIK Practice Management System.

Receive, manage, and direct calls in accordance with call management protocols including but not limited to:

Must be comfortable working in a paperless environment including use of the electronic medical record and practice management systems.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Minimum of 3 years of experience.

Current certification in CPR-BLS for Health Care Providers by the American Heart Association.

Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position.

Experience in orthopedics, neurosciences, pediatrics, or specialty field.

Must be interested in working with people with short term or long term disabilities that begin in childhood.
