0.7 FTE (56 hrs./pay period) Telehealth Triage RN. Department hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 9:30pm. Weekend rotation coverage is required; Sat/Sun, 7:00am to 5:30pm. Holiday coverage rotation required, 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position requires initial on-site training/orientation, and then will transition to a remote working role once completed.
The Telehealth Triage RN administers family-centered nursing care to patients, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and/or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families. This position will provide a centralized Gillette communication center to patients, providers and staff who are on-call, other care sites and community resources.
Specific duties are determined by the work setting and/or the patient population served; however, in all positions at Gillette, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations.
Compensation & Benefits:
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $36.96/hour to $59.54/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including number of hours worked within the field, education, and certification/licensure. $2.75/hour for evenings, and $1.75/hour for weekend shift differentials are available for this position. Hourly pay just one part of the compensation package for employees. Major Challenges:
- Assess patients over the telephone, this includes the ability to listen and type at the same time, documenting the patient’s history while on the phone with the caller, with a high emphasis on point of care documentation.
- Provide care through listening, assessing, triaging and point of care documentation in the electronic medical record from our call center.
- Keeping pace with expanding evidence and knowledge, by knowing how to access, assess, and apply the information and knowledge in order to practice.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing.
- Documentation of completion of a professional nursing program (RN program).
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field.
- Experience in orthopedics, neurosciences, pediatrics, or specialty field.
- Telephone nursing experience.
- Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position.
- Current certification in CPR-BLS for Health Care Providers by the American Heart Association.

- Demonstrated consistent quality customer service skills.
- Must be interested in working with people with short term or long term disabilities that begin in childhood.
- Physically able to work hours required and meet physical demands of the position.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated strength in communication skills, including listening, verbal, and written are essential to provide care by phone.
Gillette requires all staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless there is a Gillette-approved medical or religious exemption.
