Thin Film Engineer Jobs

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering/Applied Science with 5+ years relevant experience

Hands on experience with operation and maintenance of ALD/CVD deposition systems

Data analysis skills, ability to manipulate data using Excel or other software to extract meaningful information

Good work ethic and attitude with a desire to learn new skills and ability to work efficiently in a start-up environment.

Maintenance and knowledge of high vacuum tools

Knowledge of the standard materials set used in the semiconductor industry

Associates or other technical degree with equivalent experience

1-2 years previous experience preferred in a thin film commercial manufacturing processing environment

10+ years of experience leading and setting priorities for multiple engineering teams in a large organization.

10+ years of manufacturing process development experience working with advanced semiconductor technology nodes.

Experience in working as a module engineer delivering innovation to enable program goals.

Significant Experience in leading teams working on interactions between process modules and programs.

Significant Experience in collaborating with or working in major semiconductor suppliers, preferably related to thin films and CMP.

Modeling/Finite Element Analysis on one of the following : Thin Film FEA or Molecular Dynamics or Chemical Interface Modeling

Understanding of fundamental physics behind the targeting modeling methodology

Ability to characterize and calibrate against analytical characterization tools [TEM, EELS, XRD, AFM etc..]

Top notch critical thinking and analytical ability

Ability to have a technical debate and communicate

- Ph.D. or Masters in Physics, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Materials science

Proven project planning, project management, documentation, problem-solving, and work prioritization skills.

High school graduate or equivalent.

Strong math background or equivalent work.

Able to work in a demanding fast paced production environment involving multi-tasking, forward thinking, strong attention to detail and quality.

Able to work with acid, radioactive materials and other toxic chemicals.

Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated. Able to achieve results independently or working with others.

Have exceptional time management skills

Have 2+ years of hands on experience working as a technician in a technical field

Operating experience in a startup setting

Experience with thin film deposition equipment operation and troubleshooting

Characterizing optical properties of thin film materials using spectroscopic ellipsometry and other optical techniques

Transfer of output of each R&D project into Manufacturing

On average, up to about 25% time of travel will be required

During travel and while working at Vitro plants or similar environments, overtime and/or weekend/evening hours are sometimes needed

Optical physics of thin films (i.e., optical thin film interference filters)

Design of multilayer thin film optical coatings using optical modeling software (e.g., Essential Macleod, OptiLayer, FilmStar, TFCalc, or equivalent)

Knowledge about flexible packaging products, including desired properties and quality requirements.

MOST IMPORTANT: Must have experience with blown film extrusion process engineering and manufacturing.

Maintain safety while optimizing manufacturing processes and operations.

Work with automated W&H manufacturing machinery, used for making flexible multilayer packaging materials.

Improve ongoing processes, quality, production efficiency, reduce material waste.

Reads testing schedules, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.

Tests functional performance of parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity.

Calibrates test instruments according to specifications.

Connects unit to test equipment.

Reads dials and digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.

Compares results with specifications and records test data or plots test results on graph.

5+ years of experience in a semiconductor environment, specifically within CVD and thin film deposition
