Excellent writing, digital communications, and editing skills

Strong knowledge of media relations, web and social media, content creation, SEO/SEM, accessibility standards, and email marketing strategies

Experience supervising entry and non-entry-level staff

Experience leading communications strategies with an equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racist lens

Experience working with advocates, attorneys, youth, elected officials, and/or community leaders

Excellent business acumen, consulting, and relationship management skills.

10+ years of communications experience in roles that have driven understanding and positive perception of companies, products, and services.

Executive Leadership experience in communications roles for large, global organizations. Experience executing programs across multiple markets and channels.

Experience creating and managing strategic plans, budgets, and metrics and regularly evaluating and communicating progress.

Experience building, leading, developing, coaching, and retaining a high-performing team of experienced, motivated, and passionate colleagues.

Develop and ensure consistent messaging and cohesive communications strategies across the executive team.

Skilled crisis leaders with proven judgement and issues management experience

Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, planning and change management skills.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or associated profession or combination of education and experience.

Assume AVP of Strategic Communications & Marketing responsibilities during his/her absence as necessary.

Experience leading through influence and diplomacy in situations where formal authority may be lacking.

12+ years communications experience working with and providing guidance to executives and senior leaders

3+ years experience managing, leading and inspiring high performing employee communications teams

Direct experience working in a corporate role with a strong understanding of high-tech culture

Creatively use different communication formats such as live events, videos, community channels, emails to inform and inspire employees.

Partner with cross-functional teams including External Communications, HR, Talent Acquisition, Chief of Staff, Legal, etc. across the company.

Relationship builder with strong business acumen and ability to prioritize around highest impact actions and partner across leadership and communications teams

Experience in a senior management communications role either in-house or with an agency

Superior leadership and management skills: the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

Partner with the People Team to manage employee communications and participate in developing Employer Branding content and our Altos culture narrative

Manage and work closely with our external communications firm to develop content for the company’s website and media channels

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of progressive experience managing corporate and scientific communications in a biotech or pharma setting

Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior leadership
