Overview A Router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the traffic directing functions on the Internet. A Router is a physical device that is connected to two or more networks and forwards data packets between them. Detailed Job Description Routers are responsible for routing data packets between networks. They are responsible for setting up and maintaining network connections, configuring routing protocols, and troubleshooting network problems. They also monitor network performance and security, and provide technical support to users. Job Skill Requirements Routers must have a strong understanding of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, and BGP. They must also have a good understanding of network security, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption. They must also have experience with networking hardware and software, and be familiar with routing protocols.
