Proof of HS Graduation (High School Diploma or High School Transcripts or

Translator Interpreter - 8hrs (English Learner Services/ PC#253123)

Pass Special Education department Spanish screening assessment (verbal and written); interpreting and translating experience required

Knowledge of technical educational terminology

High School education or equivalent required; college preferred

Provide oral English/Spanish interpretation at Special Education meetings (i.e. MET, IEP, parent conferences, etc)

Assist Spanish speaking parents/guardians with Special Education forms and questionnaires

To provide Spanish verbal and written translations within the Special Education, Student Services and Psychological Services departments.

Uses computer, software, and internet tools for research, data entry, and other communication purposes within the work environment.

Hold an interpreting certification in other fields (e.g. court interpreter)

Have 2 years of experience as a professional medical interpreter

Bachelor's Degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

National Certification as a Medical Interpreter though either NBCMI or CCHI; Utah certification for Medical Language Interpreter through DOPL.

Two years of experience as a professional medical interpreter.

General English literacy and numeracy skills, as well as an understanding of general U.S. culture.

Proficiency in a second language and understanding of the culture of the people who speak that language.

Ability to produce an accurate, neutral and impartial version of communication without omissions, alterations, or additions.

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Understanding of the key aspects of culture

Must have or willing to obtain current tuberculosis test and clearance, and background check.

One year work experience as a Medical Interpreter required

Completion of a Medical Interpreter training program highly preferred

Must be able to successfully complete intensive Medical Interpreter Qualification Training Program

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of medical terminology and medical procedures.

Successfully completes additional job related training when offered.

Demonstrates a working knowledge of personal computers, software packages, and standard office equipment.

GED or High School Diploma.

Must achieve 'Non-clinical' or 'Clinical' designation in 'Overall Language Proficiency'.

Proficient bilingual skills (Oral and/or Written) in English and Turkish.

Highly effective interpersonal skills with culturally diverse students and families and school personnel.

Establishes rapport with culturally diverse students and their families.

Works at the direction of Administration and ESL Facilitator.

Upon request from Administration, translates notes, forms, and school information from English into other languages or from other languages into English.

Collaborate with District staff to create a safe, trusting and professional environment.

Ability to apply new skills/information to existing practices

Ability to manage time efficiently to encompass activities in and out of the office

Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED considered with evidence of excellent language skills

Knowledge of Medical Interpreting, preferred

Facilitates service provision for Wyandotte County to eligible infants and toddlers and their families in home and community-based settings.

Work as a transdisciplinary team member to collaboratively serve eligible infants and toddlers

Tact and diplomacy to effectively meet the communication needs of the general public, medical staff, community, governmental agencies and internal committees

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Basic knowledge of community resources and service agencies and/or skill in identifying appropriate community resources for clients as needed.

Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.

Must possess the DSHS Medical Interpreter Certification or Screening Certificate.

Skill in accurate and appropriate interpretation.

Experience working in Electronic Health Records (EHRs)/Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and the ability to work autonomously in such systems

Must be detailed oriented, with analytical and problem solving skills, along with customer service abilities and other related characteristics

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hatian Creole

Strong interpersonal skills as he or she deals directly with the public on a daily basis

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools/ Executive Director(s) may find appropriate and acceptable.

Aiding administration in parent outreach

Ensures all "school to home" communications are translated appropriately.

Professional experience in consecutive interpretation

Professional experience in simultaneous interpretation

Professional experience in whispering and equipment assisted simultaneous interpretation

Ability to maintain confidentiality and to manage sensitive documents

Basic computer skills; namely in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

College degree or equivalent experience

·Verifies eligibility and informs patient of rights and responsibilities.

·Produce reports on utilization of services as needed by program manager

·Excellent written and oral communication skills

·Ability to demonstrate high attention to detail and good follow-up skills

·Knowledge of local health safety net and healthcare systems a plus

·Knowledge of health care terminology in both English and Spanish

2 years of experience in translation of English and source language; Must pass a competency exam and skills assessment.

Coursework/Training: Training and education in translation competencies or equivalent experience.

Upon hire: National Certified Medical Interpreter - National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters

1 year of interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting.

Coursework/Training: Continuing education and/or training preferred in medical interpretation competencies, translation and medical terminology/phrases.

Coursework/Training: Professional training in translation or equivalent educ/experience

Excellent phone etiquette, and timeliness in routinely responding to interpretation requests within the department expectations as established by management.

Maintains acceptable productivity and quality standards as established by management to ensure effective and efficient operations.
