Overview Medical Assistant Certificates are awarded to individuals who have completed a program of study in medical assisting. These programs are typically offered at community colleges, vocational schools, and universities. Medical Assistants are responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to physicians and other healthcare professionals. Detailed Job Description Medical Assistants are responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks in a healthcare setting. These tasks may include greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, filing medical records, preparing and administering medications, taking vital signs, and assisting with minor medical procedures. Medical Assistants may also be responsible for providing patient education and answering questions about medical treatments and procedures. Job Skills Required Medical Assistants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare professionals.
