JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Assist research engineering programs needing mechanical design support by collaborating with R&D engineers and engineering support specialists

Participate in meetings and design reviews

Collaborate to address design, material, and component needs; assist in the resolution of issues

Apply engineering knowledge and experience to develop concepts and create robust, efficient solutions.

Prior experience with machine assembly, install, or retrofitting such that a “hands-on” knowledge has been acquired

Working knowledge of design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and desire for increased knowledge potential

At times, design and manage complete machine assemblies while maintaining company design procedures

Strong time-management and/or project-management skills.

Assist with the reliability management of bearings, gearboxes, generators, and motors within wind turbine drivetrain systems

Help build and develop the capabilities of in-house repair teams.

Zero to three years of work experience

Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills

Experience with wind turbines, equipment reliability, bearings, condition-monitoring, or CMMS software is a plus

Create concept recommendations for new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements

You have good PC skills (MS Office software like Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)

Provide mechanical engineering support as needed under direction of his mentor engineer and/or engineering leader.

Interface with the multi-functional teams including R&D, production, sustaining engineering, field service and end customers to address on-going field performance problems

Provide technical support to operations teams to assist troubleshooting manufacturing and assembly processes and resolve product quality issues

Enrolled in an ABET accredited BSME program, at a minimum successfully completed freshman year.

This is for the Fall Term 2023.

Experience using standard project management practices.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and prior relevant experience.

Fundamental knowledge of and/or experience with design principles.

Derive engineering requirements, develop conceptual designs, and perform supporting analyses of mechanical systems, test prototypes, and associated diagnostics.

Fundamental knowledge of material properties and manufacturing methods.

Experience working effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Work is to be performed on a remote basis.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.

Understanding of engineering principles, practices, and tools.

Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.

Understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of industrial facilities.

Participate in meetings and design reviews

A balanced engineering skill set, consisting of solid design abilities, thermo-fluids/HVAC, and systems engineering is well suited for the Passenger Interior

Evaluate customer product requirements and develop product designs to meet customer needs

Prior mechanical engineering experience as an Examiner, or patent researcher is required
